To put it in a nut-shell "all HELL broke lose just before the flood". This interaction between angels and men created an enormous upheaval. God said that "ALL FLESH WAS CORRUPT" upon the face of the earth (Gen.6:12). This sounds to me like things got way out of hand, and this "interaction" between fallen angel and man had become "all encompassing". Like a plague, the fallen angels "infected" the entire human race. More disturbing, is that the scripture gives the allusion that this had an impact on the animal kingdom as well:
"And the Lord said, I will DESTROY man whom
I've created from the face of the earth; both man,
and beast, and the creeping thing,
and the fowls of the air; for it
repenteth me
that I have made them".

(Gen. 6:7)

God over-emphasizes the fact that he had to DESTROY "every living thing" off the face of the earth (except Noah and family and "carefully selected" animals). This is an extremely "stern" action and has never really been properly understood as to why? Now you KNOW why, God HAD to, otherwise no life COULD have been spared. Left outside the hands of God, man and beast would have been utterly annihilated, by "nephillim infestation", and or by themselves. This interaction also seemed to instill irrevocable destruction to the "spiritual nature" of mankind, as "...that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was onlyEVIL CONTINUALLY" (Gen.6:5). There was only one way for God to handle this dilemma, by "wiping the proverbial slate clean!". And thats exactly what the Lord did....the flood. Satan had attempted to infiltrate ALL FLESH LITERALLY, to try and thwart the inevitable birth of Jesus Christ. Had God not taken the stern action of THE FLOOD, the doom of all mankind would have been a surety. The "plague" of fallen angels completely and utterly perverted ALL FLESH, even the animal kingdom, as God destroyed them as well.

These Elohim were corrupting, Yahweh’s creation. They were crossbreeding all sorts of life forms.

Not only did they breed with women, animals and creeping things, they also crossbreed humans with animals and different animals with animals to create work beasts, war beasts and who knows what else.

(Mermaids, Sphinx, Satyrs and Centurions are examples). I believe that the dinosaurs were a creation of these.

We are told that their offspring were giants, I believe this is speaking about the gods and goddesses (or the Pharaoh and his wife) of the time who according to Egyptian iconography are depicted as giants and their subjects only about knee high. We are told that they devoured each other. Well, the Egyptian Pharaohs as told in the Mythological stories fought over the throne killing each other in order to sit on the throne as the god of Egypt. They also devoured the food of the land taking away from the little people. They also enslaved the people of the land which is told about in the Exodus story of the Israelites.
Crossbreeding and bestiality are abominations to Yahweh so he sent a flood to destroy all that had been corrupted. However the Elohim were immortal so Yahweh cast them into prison until the day of judgment.

I'm going to summarize it for you here. this guy has does an excellent job of referencing.

What this person has shown here is that as far back as Josephus the beings referenced in Genesis 6:4 were considered to be angels. when we consider that Justin Martyr also used the word angel, it becomes more reasonable that the current translation of Josephus might, in fact, be accurate as "angels"

According to the canonical and apochryphal writings this guy pulls together there were three things that caused God to become regretful of the situation down here on earth to the point He decided it was best to start over:

1. The corruption of the human race - typically taken as spiritual corruption - God looked and saw nothing but wickedness. BUT, it was more than us just turning into scandalous creatures, we had been genetically corrupted by the angels that came down and married and bred with the daughters of men.

2. The animals had become corrupted - Now this author hints at cross-species breeding, but I'm not sure that is what is meant. Is it possible that genetic alteration had been achieved? Could we currently be back at this point? Whatever the method used to achieve the "physical corruption" of the animals, the references bear out that this was the problem.

3. Technology shared by the angels - The angels did not just come down and physically corrupt the human race, they also brought with them "knowledge" that was not in line with God's timeline. In other words, according to these references the human race, via the transmission of knowledge from these angels, progressed to a technologically advanced condition that was not yet to be attained. Included in the areas of knowledge that these angels brought were: the knowledge of metals, weapons, magic, astrology, astronomy, meteorology, "signs of the Earth", and "signs of the sun".

Now, one more thing is pointed out in this author's review of the translation of the passage concerning God's choosing of Noah - a point that seems to have foundation.

Genesis 6:9 refers to the genealogy of Noah:

"This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect [tamim] in his generations. Noah walked with God."

It has been traditional taught that Noah was selected from among the men on Earth to survive the flood and carry on humanity because he was found to be "righteous" in the eyes of God. Therefore, the implication has been that he was righteous in the spirit. However, this author points out that tamim, the word used for "perfect" in this verse, means "physically without blemish". That the connotation here is that Noah's bloodline was not corrupted from the angels that bred with the daughters of men cannot be ignored.

I find these arguments to be very logical, well-referenced, and worthy of further study.
